My Home, Nara – A Place of Peace and Beauty

Nara is a city where time flows gently, where the scenery changes with the seasons,
but the spirit remains the same—a place with over 1,300 years of history.
This is where I was born and raised.

From ancient temples and World Heritage sites to traditional townscapes and sacred deer wandering freely,
Nara embodies a deep, quiet beauty that has been lovingly preserved over centuries.

Why I Created a Shop in Nara

In this timeless city, I opened a small shop in a traditional Japanese house over 100 years old.
Since 2003, my shop has focused on deer-themed accessories and original goods, each handcrafted with care.
I wanted to capture the quiet charm of Nara—the gentle gaze of a deer, the whisper of old wood, the poetry of everyday moments.

What You’ll Find at Je et Nous

Inside the shop, you’ll discover over 300 kinds of deer-inspired accessories and nostalgic, artful items.
Each piece is made not for mass production, but to evoke something personal—
something that quietly stays with you.

I also curate vintage and antique displays that reflect the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of Japan’s past.
This is not just a souvenir store—it’s a place to discover something meaningful.

A Quiet Moment Near Tōdai-ji

Located just five minutes from the Great Buddha Hall of Tōdai-ji Temple,
Je et Nous sits quietly in the heart of Nara’s most visited area—yet feels a world apart.

I hope that those who find us take away not just an item,
but a memory—a gentle feeling that connects them to this place.

With warm regards,

Setsuda Kayo
